Resources Office Depot Experiences Having weathered four major hurricanes last year alone at its corporate headquarters in South Florida and 60 of its Gulf State stores, Office Depot has real world experience and practical solutions to help businesses deal with disruption. This brochure contains valuable advice from Office Depot's Global Business Continuity Team, led by Director Tom Serio, who is also a ACP South Florida Chapter Officer, and Jon Toigo, an IT veteran and author of numerous books, including Disaster Recovery Planning: Preparing for the Unthinkable, 3rd Edition. Office Depot Disaster Planning Document FEMA Releases Preparedness DVD "Getting Ready for Disaster - One Family's Experience," a citizen preparedness DVD from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has been released to help people get ready for disasters that may impact their families and communities. The DVD guides viewers through important steps of disaster preparedness and addresses critical issues in seven segments: Getting Informed, Making a Plan, Assembling a Disaster Supplies Kit, Food and Water in an Emergency, Helping Children Cope with Disaster, Disability and Special Needs Populations, and Getting Involved - Citizen Corps. The DVD was designed to be used with "Are You Ready? An In-Depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness" and the accompanying facilitator manual for teaching preparedness principles in small group or classroom settings. Free copies of the DVD (FEMA 500) and the Are You Ready guides (IS-22 and IS-22FG) are available through the FEMA Distribution Center at (800) 480-2520. Requests are currently limited to one DVD per caller. In the coming months, the DVD will be translated into Spanish and will be available in both languages on a single DVD. The Central Arizona Chapter of the Association of Continuity Planners has designated a team of its members to develop a planning template broad enough that any organization could take the tasks provided in this guide and apply them to their unique business environment. It is hoped that when an organization utilizes the information found in this guide that they can enhance this list with procedures and processes that will better prepare them for an public health emergency involving a biological agent.
